The Interreligious Council of San Diego (IRC) Presents:

Bridging Our Faiths

The Interreligious Council of San Diego, also known as the IRC, was established in 1991 to promote mutual understanding, respect, and solidarity amongst different faiths in San Diego. Represented on the Council are Baha'is, Buddhism, Christianity, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hinduism, Jainism, Islam and Sikhism.

The IRC member faiths acknowledge the differences among their respective faiths but celebrate their many shared interests and values. The IRC values religious, cultural, and ethnic diversity yet is acutely aware of the dangers that result from ignorance and misunderstanding about our respective beliefs, customs, and ancestries.

This second edition of Bridging Our Faiths was a collaboration of the various faith groups of the IRC in the hopes of increasing understanding of and respect for, one another's spiritual traditions and to reduce the real and perceived misconceptions of any one faith community by demonstrating our openness to sharing who we are and what we value.

This tome, Bridging Our Faiths, is unlike traditional comparative religions texts, since each section is written by members of the faith community described, the practitioner. The text does not focus on how different these religions are, but instead, discovers the similarities that exist among them. Bridging Our Faiths is an excellent introductory textbook about the major world religions represented in America today.
